Villa di Capo, built right beneath the Venetian Castle and overlooking the Cretan Sea and the Caldera, is the ideal place for the visitor who wants to discover the island of Santorini, to use as a base. The Villas are luxurious and private, but also give the guest easy access to breath taking sights and marvelous beaches!
Villa di Capo sits on the southwestern part of Santorini, in Akrotiri, 10 km away from the port of Athinios, 11 km from Fira and 12 km from the island airport.
Akrotiri is world-famous for the prehistoric settlement revealed in the 1967 excavations. Archaeologists hold that the earliest evidence of the settlement’s habitation, date back to the Late Neolithic times (around 4500 BC). The archaeological site only 1.5 km away from the villas. Visiting the site, the guests will have the chance to have a unique experience and connect to the island’s history. In the Middle Ages, Akrotiri was occupied by the Venetians, and it became one of the five fortified settlements of Santorini. Today, on the peak of the hill where Villa di Capo is built, the Venetian Tower (Goula) of the castle still stands, overlooking the horizon.
Some of the most famous beaches of the island, such as the Red Beach and the White Beach are just 2.5 km away from the villas. Visiting those beaches is a one-of-a kind experience. A natural marvel created by the volcano, the Red Beach is enclosed by steep red hills. The red, pulverized volcanic rock that composes the sand contrasts the dark blue waters, creating a mesmerising scenery. The White Beach is white pebbled – hence the name- and surrounded by cliffs that form a cove. The thing that sets this beach apart is its white color, dominant in the scenery, that is not encountered in any other shore on the island.
The lighthouse of the island, built in 1892 during the Ottoman occupation is an ideal spot from where you can enjoy the world-famous Santorini sunset. Only 4.5 km away from Villa di Capo, it’s an idyllic, serene and peaceful spot for blissful, romantic moments.
